The Designer
Established in 1929 by brothers Michael and Jay Chernow Monet was initially known as the Monocraft Products Company, which manufactured gold- and silver- plated monogram plaques for use in women's handbags. In 1937, the company's name was changed to Monet and began producing high-quality costume jewellery. Edmond Granville, a former Cartier fine jewellery designer, transformed the company into a leading fashion brand. Monet was purchased in 2000 by Liz Claiborne.
