Dating back to 1926 Miriam Haskell formed her jewellery business by opening a jewellery boutique in The Old Alpin Hotel in New York. Her company with designer Frank Hess was best known as a manufacturer of affordable costume jewellery from the 1920's to the 1960's. Within one year she opened a second boutique on West 57th Street.
Haskell's jewellery was worn by many Hollywood figures including Joan Crawford and Lucille Ball plus notables such as The Duchess of Windsor. This is what makes Haskell's vintage jewellery so collectible today.
