Founded in 1876 by Willian H.Wade, Edward P. Davis and Louis Heckman Whiting & Davis Co. are best known for their design and production of high quality fine evening bags often woven from gold and silver threads. In 1907 the company began producing a line of costume jewellery made from both plated and unplated silver and gold metals. Many of the designs were influenced by the Egyptian revival, Art Deco and Art Nouveau eras including large bangles, necklaces and brooches often with floral motifs and engravings plus their highly collectible range of woven ties and spiral bracelets in the form of snakes. They continued to produce costume jewellery right through the decades and in the 1950’s they are synonymous with the production of cameo jewellery.
